Job Description
This position will work within the DE (Digital Engineering) group to develop and implement various enterprise initiatives and technical projects related to Fisher Scientific and Thermo Fisher Scientific ecommerce web sites. Candidate will translate business needs into effective technical solutions using LucidWorks Search, SOLR and JAVA technologies. Candidate will be responsible for implementation, maintenance of web applications and services that interact with Product, Content, Search and E-Commerce systems. Candidate should be able to work effectively in a team to design, build web applications and services. This position offers a challenging career to work on systems that interface with multiple systems including Content Management Systems, Product Information Management System, Search Engine technology, Middleware and ERPs.
The ideal candidate is an energetic self-starter with strong work experience. The Staff Engineer provides systems architectural and design leadership to multiple Software Development Scrum Teams in eCommerce. The role is of a Lead Developer who is motivated to actively contribute to the architecture, design and development of new features. The candidate is also expected to perform all aspects of software development including system design, design review, development, code review, unit testing, and integration testing. In addition to that, the role also demands to lead, motivate, mentor and provide ample guidance to other team members with respect to technical challenges.
Job Function:
Work closely with development team, architect, project manager, business analysts to design, develop, unit test, debug and maintain Java based web applications in accordance with functional requirements and scope of work.
Serve as a technical lead for the product and actively participate in all Agile ceremonies.
Develop and implement LucidWorks, Solr search functionality across search platform on thermofisher.com and fishersci.com
Participate in all team ceremonies including planning, grooming, product demonstration and team retrospectives
Participate in all aspects of software development, systems integration, test execution, issue resolution, and reviews.
Contribute and conform to DE adopted software development standards.
Participate in code reviews with peers and managers to ensure that each increment adheres to original vision as described in the user story and all standard resource libraries and architecture patterns as appropriate.
Focus on quality and continuous improvement to application and processes.
Participate in production deployments and help production support group when needed.
Effectively contributes to building the overall knowledge and expertise of the technical team.
Expert proficiency in Object Oriented Design (OOD) and analysis.
Expert proficiency in application of analysis/design engineering functions.
Expert proficiency in application of non-functional software qualities such as resiliency, maintainability and scalability.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
At-least 10 years of experience in developing web applications using Java based frameworks and related technologies with solid understanding of design principles
Experience with AWS managed services, Microservices Architecture, Postgres, Oracle and NoSQL databases
Solid understanding and application knowledge of object-oriented programming and design patterns.
Experience working with UI technologies such as Javascript, NodeJS, Angular or React JS
4+ years of Experience working directly on the Solr Search platform (preferred).
Experience with modern monitoring and logging platforms
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
Must possess problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Be performance driven, must be able to work multiple projects simultaneously if needed.
Be highly motivated to adopt new technologies, challenges and work in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent team player with strong verbal & written communication skills.
Experience in Agile methodologies.
Experience working with TDD, CI/CD, GIT, JIRA, and Confluence.
Regular day to day job responsibilities does not involve travel.
