The shift pattern for this position is Monday to Sunday(long days and nights).
Renal services are seeking to recruit band 5 nurses to join our renal inpatient areas at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, based within our nephrology wards 4A and 4D.
Applications are invited from Registered General Nurses who are active on the NMC Register to join our enthusiastic and innovative team as a Staff Nurse.
The General Renal nephrology wards are located within the QEUH – Ward 4A with 8 high acuity beds and 12 general nephrology beds and ward 4D a 30 bedded general nephrology ward. Both areas accommodate patients at varies stages of renal impairment to include: Kidney investigations, pre dialysis management, end stage renal disease requiring dialysis therapy, conservative management or/palliative care. This post would allow you to gain experience in all aspects of haemodialysis and general nephrology nursing and also care of longer term kidney transplant patients. Within ward 4A you would also have the opportunity to look after patients who require a higher degree of nursing input.
Renal services within GGC also incorporates a Renal Assessment Unit (RAU), the west of Scotland kidney transplant unit, both located within the QEUH and 6 outpatient regular dialysis units (RDUs) over multiple GGC sites – The service also provides external haemodialysis to patients within the Golden Jubilee National Hospital.
As a new renal staff nurse you would undertake our comprehensive renal education and competency training package.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team and maintain effective communication with patients, relatives/carers and other team members to ensure that appropriate information is shared and patient needs are met.
Potential candidates should:
• Have the ability to work to high clinical standards.
• Be flexible, forward thinking and able to work effectively within a changing environment.
• Previous dialysis experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
