Full Stack Engineer
About the Role
As a Staff engineer on uMetric i.e. Uber's Metric Platform, you will work on batch and nearline streaming systems as well as distributed systems building Uber’s metrics store. Focusing on Metric products, you’ll work directly with end users to understand their use cases to design and build generalized solutions. What You Will Need :
Full Stack Staff Engineer
BS, MS in Computer Science, Maths or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
11+ years of experience in software engineering focusing on large-scale systems and/or data engineering with a proven track record as a technical leader cum Architect..
Strong experience in Software Design and Architecture, Data Engineering, Modeling, having scaled Distributed systems.
Proficient in one or more object-oriented programming languages: Java, GoLang, C++, React, Java script, Graph QL, SQL
Sound understanding of Computer architecture and CS fundamentals.
Sound leadership skills including technically coaching and mentoring team members.
Adept at communicating and collaborating effectively with others, promoting your ideas as well as being humble when you may be wrong.
Good problem solving and analytical skills. Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis.
Understanding of distributed systems and architecture.
Proven experience in large-scale distributed storage and database systems (SQL or NoSQL, e.g. MySQL, Cassandra).
Good team player and collaboration skills. Passion to take ownership & responsibility.
Constantly evolve the visualization platform to identify bottlenecks and improve them.
Collaborate with multiple product and engineering teams, as well as external partnerships for integration into our platform
Work with Product, UX, and Design to enhance the portal.
Write quality code and documentation which can be used as an example.
Help build consensus by being open to a variety of viewpoints and aid in bridging a gap in case of a disagreement
What You Will Do :
You will design, code, test, and launch backend features, data engineering pipelines and ML-based product features at global scale.
Own important components of the metrics ecosystem end-to-end.
Influence, define and own the vision and roadmap for the product.
Interact with users directly to understand pain points and improve the systems.
Raise the code quality bar and define the technical direction for the uMetric product stack.
Collaborate with other members of the team to ship complex projects fast and with quality.
Solve challenging data problems with cutting edge design and algorithms. coach and mentor junior and new team members.
