Job Description Summary
You will be part of the core team at GE Digital Grid Software Business driving Energy Transition for the planet by designing, building, delivering and maintaining software applications & services for next generation Grid Software that orchestrates the 40% of the world's power today. You will work with a global team to develop and migrate key software modules such as electricity distribution module, network outage management, and renewables orchestration modules to the cloud using Java and related technologies to improve security, performance, flexibility and delivery time of the software. You will be part of scrum team and be responsible for software lifecycle including activities such as requirement analysis, software development and testing, CI/CD, documentation and support.
Job Description
In this role you will,
- Work in a scrum team to develop next generation capability for electricity flow orchestration for GE's customers.
- Use Java-Springboot and related technologies on cloud and to develop this next gen capabilities. Work on AWS and Kubernetes technologies to deploy these next gen capabilities.
- Collaborate with system engineers, frontend developers and software developers to implement solutions that are aligned with and extend shared platforms and solutions
- Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques
- Writes codes that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project
- Build features such as microservices and queries on existing tables
- Understand performance parameters and assess application performance
- Work on core data structures and algorithms and implement them using language of choice
Technical Expertise:
- Experience in Java, Springboot and related technologies
- Experience in Cloud, AWS, Kubernetes, docker, technologies
- Experience with database tools (JPA, Hibernate,JDBC, Spring Data)
- Experience with rules engines (Camel, Drools, JRules) & modern tooling (Gradle, Maven, Git, SVN)Comfortable in building features such as web services and Queries on existing tables.Aware of methods and practices such as Lean/Agile/XP, etc.
- Prior work experience in an agile environment, or introductory training on Lean/Agile. Aware of and able to apply continuous integration (CI).
- General understanding of the impacts of technology choice to the software development life cycle.

- Has the ability to break down problems and estimate time for development tasks.
- Understands the technology landscape, up to date on current technology trends and new technology, brings new ideas to the team.

- Bachelor's Degree Computer Science or "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) + withminimum +years of experience.
- Must have experience in Java and Springboot application development using docker/kubernetes

- Experience in developing AWS is a great plus
- Experience in working in industrial environments is a plus
