Bankwest's Technology Division develops and executes all technical change within the organisation ensuring the leverage of technology to deliver the Bankwest strategy. The division works on a wide variety of technologies and projects with the support of a dedicated team in an Agile methodology. Our team is responsible for the world-leading application of technology and operations across every aspect of the bank - from product platforms for our customers, to essential tools within our business.
You will be part of either the Payments Crew or the Everyday Experiences crew, both dedicated to delivering seamless, customer-focused digital experiences. Our goal is to meet customers’ digital expectations by innovating in payments and providing additional payment options.
As a Staff Engineer, you’ll be responsible for leading, promoting continuous improvement, developing technical roadmaps, and improving the quality of technical solutions by implementing industry best practises. You'll also work closely with other technical leaders and product owners to document new changes and drive various initiatives. It will be key that you are able communicate well with the rest of the squad members, provide technical guidance and mentoring to the engineers in the team, while being exposed to some interesting challenges. Also, you’ll be involved in all aspects of the delivery from solution design and development to production rollout.

Possesses full-cycle engineering experience: ideation, technical design, build, testing (unit, integration, system), release, and ongoing maintenance.
Collaborates with peers and helps grow capabilities within the squad and across the crew.
Actively embraces and integrates AI-driven solutions (including LLMs and agentic AI approaches) to enhance our engineering workflows and product capabilities.
Provides technical governance and guidance throughout the complete solution delivery lifecycle.
Have the ability to work independently and drive a culture where quality, excellence and openness are championed.
Are passionate about learning new tools and technologies and are constantly thinking outside the box.
Designs, documents and implements solutions to distribute source system data via bulk interfaces.
Contributes to complex delivery planning by providing guidance and oversight to ensure that technical deliveries are aligned with engineering direction and strategy.
Have ability to constructively challenge the status quo while influencing stakeholders at various levels.
Tech Skills:
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:
Expertise with technologies such as .NET Core, C#
Hands-on experience with Microservices, Restful API design pattern
Good understanding of application and system security best practices like OWASP
Familiar with mobile development - Android or iOS
Knowledge of modern Cloud technology stacks (AWS preferred) and how it can most effectively be deployed into enterprise environments
Familiar with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD Pipeline - GitHub Actions, SonarQube, Jira, Snyk, AppDynamics, Observe and ObStack, Confluence, Cucumber, ServiceNow, Co-Pilot, Roo Code, Cline
Any experience with the following would be great - AI/ML, Agentic AI, Automation and Testing framework (Appium, Selenium, Playwright, Specmatic).
