We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Technical Communications team in Bangalore, India! As a Staff Information Developer, you will develop customer-facing content in collaboration with Arm’s engineering and marketing teams, while line-managing a few technical writers. You will also be a member of a global community of information developers working together to create content to help Arm's customers succeed. You will work directly with engineers across the company with a major focus on the Physical IP design - Engineering team. You will have a direct impact on our bottom line and the ability to deliver improvements for our customers and be part of a growing, fast-paced, and lively team!
What does the role achieve/deliver for ARM?
• Structured technical content that increases comprehension and ease of use and adheres to Tech Comms writing standards
• Content requirements for products are analysed to support cross-product consistency and reuse
• Tech Comms processes and standard methodologies are both implemented and improved.
• Direction/supervision and people development in Tech Comms
As part of the wider Sales and Partner Enablement Group, our Technical Communications team produces the technical content for all of Arm's products. This content can include user documentation, white papers, knowledge-base articles, tutorials, and multimedia. Technical Communications has a strong presence in all of Arm's global design centres. We come from a diverse set of backgrounds and range from graduates to highly experienced writers.
As a community, we guide, encourage, and share knowledge with each other. For larger projects, we work together to build and deliver content or process
Responsibilities
Planning documentation against the product roadmap ensuring documentation quality and to meet customer demand
• Creating and maintaining content for multiple projects, without supervision
• Taking ownership of and leading multiple projects, mentoring, and/or coaching
• Identifying user needs as a customer advocate to generate content that helps our customers and partners achieve their goals
• Collaborating extensively with domain experts in engineering, project/product management, marketing, support, and other teams to identify and address information gaps
• Looking for opportunities to improve efficiency with tooling, process, and content auto-generation
• Verifying team’s documentation releases and process to ensure the quality of customer-facing content, and to align with the Tech Comms Lifecycle Management process
• Collaborating with your team to implement the best processes and practices for the technical information you produce
• Providing direction or supervision for all content development team members working on assigned projects
• Acting as the primary Information Developer in documentation projects.
• Acting as a mentor for less expert Information Developers
• Line-managing Information Developers
Reports into a Senior Technical Communications Manager and works in direct partnership with,
• Engineers in a project team, the Product Information Architects, and other Information Developers or other appropriate collaborators or SMEs
• Project Managers, Product Managers, and Application Engineers
• The peer review team and Tools & Methodology group
Required Skills and Experience
• 8 to 12 years of proven ability in authoring and leading independent projects end to end
• University graduate/post graduate level in Electronics, Computer Science, or equivalent
• Experience in DITA CMS and oXygen XML
• Self-starter, able to work from own initiative, with good judgement and clear decision-making abilities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Flexible and pragmatic in approach, remains agile
• Excellent Information Development Skills, in addition to a strong grasp of the editorial process
• Very good understanding of the industry standard tools and technologies with the ability to learn and adapt
• Very good process knowledge
• Excellent stakeholder management skills
• Very good soft skills with good analytical skills, and excellent time management skills
• Supportive and encouraging team-mate, who thrives in a collaborative work environment
• Creative, dynamic, and insightful
• Enjoys learning about new technologies especially around computer architecture, microprocessors, or related technical fields
• Experience and strong interest in line-managing and developing people
