Responsibilities
Full Time Cook - 40 hours / week
40 hours / week, including every other weekend
Position includes both early and late shifts: 5:30am to 1:30pm and 10:30am to 6:30pm; includes every other weekend
This position is responsible for maintaining high standards of quality in the preparation and service of quantity food using standardized recipes
Maintaining sanitation standards according to regulations
The Cook is also responsible for the general supervision of the Dining Services Team in the absence of the Lead Cook
Essential Duties Of Cook
Prepares meals according to recipes and instructions
Adjusting for altered diets and diets specific to the resident, ensuring quantity, nutritional, and quality standards are met
Participates in Special catering functions as needed
Complies with all safety standards and ensure that dining team members maintain a safe work environment
Responsible to follow safety guidelines in the event of staff injury
Complies with all regulations governing handling and storage of food supplies, equipment and methods of sanitation
Notifies the Maintenance Department of broken or malfunctioning equipment via work requisitions
Also Responsible for:
Maintaining foods at safe temperatures
Checks and records refrigerator and freezer temperatures
Locking/unlocking kitchen and dining room doors
Assist in the cleaning jobs, including refrigerators, ranges, ovens, grills, appliances and work areas
Ensuring food is within use by dates, and discarding items that are past those dates
Participates in facility-wide in-service training program
Regularly interacts with residents during meal time
Provides input for the facility menu cycles
Performs other duties as required by facility needs
