💰 $4,200 - $6,720 (Est.) 📍 Sydney 🕐 1 days ago

Job Description

Full job description
For two decades, The Star Sydney has been a local landmark, deeply ingrained in Pyrmont and Darling Harbour. Committed to our communities, we strive to create fun in trusted destinations as Australia's premier entertainment hub. The Darling, and state-of-the-art venues including The Star Event Centre and The Lyric Theatre have hosted prestigious events and international acts. With extraordinary dining options, including Sokyo, BLACK Bar and Grill, Cucina Porto and our vibrant Sports Bar where the action is live and loud, we are dedicated to delivering the ultimate entertainment, hospitality, and dining experiences for all.

As the Stewarding Supervisor, you will support the Chief Steward in leading and coordinating a team of Stewards to ensure efficient and effective operations. You’ll play a key role in delivering exceptional guest service, fostering team member performance and development, and driving continuous service enhancements.

With a strong focus on safety, flawless execution, and product excellence, you’ll help maintain a fresh, positive, and dynamic work environment where high standards and teamwork thrive.

A few of your responsibilities

Supervise, guide, and actively support Stewards across various outlets, ensuring the efficient execution of tasks including ware washing, cleaning, soaking, and sanitation in accordance with hygiene and safety standards.
Maintain open and effective communication with outlet managers to ensure operational and service needs are met through efficient and well-planned rostering.
Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleaning and safety standards are upheld across all outlets, promptly reporting any hazards or defects to the Chief Steward.
Foster open communication through regular briefings and meetings, ensuring seamless transfer of product knowledge between front and back of house team members.
Ensure daily cleanliness and maintenance of work areas and equipment—including bench tops, stoves, grill plates, salamanders, deep fryers, and woks—in line with departmental hygiene and safety standards.

What we are looking for

Hands-on experience working in a hospitality environment, with a solid understanding of cleaning procedures, equipment handling, and back-of-house operations. You're familiar with maintaining hygiene and safety standards and are comfortable working behind the scenes to support kitchen and service teams.
The ability to remain calm and focused under pressure, with the ability to prioritise tasks and maintain high standards during busy service periods. Your time management skills and attention to detail ensure that nothing gets missed, even when the pace picks up.
You’re confident communicating with people at all levels—from team members and supervisors to managers and guests. You work well in a diverse team environment, promoting a positive and inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels supported and informed.
You are adaptable and comfortable working a flexible schedule, including shifts across 7 days a week and 24 hours a day. Your ability to adjust to varying shift patterns ensures that operational needs are always met, no matter the time or day.
About You

You are a hands-on and people-focused hospitality professional with strong stewarding or kitchen hand experience. Known for your enthusiasm, positivity, and motivation, you take pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety, and bring an energetic, can-do attitude to every shift. Constantly in contact with staff across multiple venues, you move between them with purpose—communicating clearly with chefs and venue managers to ensure seamless operations. Your strong people skills help you build rapport with team members and external contractors, including direct engagement with contractor managers. You’re proactive and solutions-focused, always walking the floor, spotting what needs attention, and stepping in to help wherever needed—whether it’s operating dishwashers, cleaning, or resolving issues on the spot. With a solid understanding of HACCP and a sharp focus on health and safety, you are a reliable problem-solver who leads by example and contributes to a positive and productive team environment.

Your role will be pivotal in shaping the success of our food and beverage operations at The Star Sydney. Join us in making a difference.
