Job Summary

The Team
Join the forward-thinking Business Technology Innovation (BTI) Unit at BC Timber Sales (BCTS) and lead a team dedicated to driving technological advancements in forestry. As part of BCTS' Business Information Services section, the BTI team is responsible for discovering, acquiring, and implementing innovative technologies that enhance BCTS operations. This established team, consisting of a GIS Remote Sensing Specialist, an administrative team lead, two administrative professionals, and a dedicated Intermediate Business Analyst, works closely with government IT services, BCTS' twelve Business Areas, and Provincial Operations. The BTI Unit has been instrumental in initiatives such as acquiring the largest fleet of unmanned aerial systems in the BC government. The team’s efforts ensure field staff safety, efficient workflows, and accurate, reliable data for informed decision-making. The Role
As the Business Technology Innovation Manager, you will set the strategic direction for technology initiatives, managing the innovation process from concept to implementation. Your role involves prioritizing projects, overseeing BCTS' technology assets, and administering security and administrative rights for hardware and software tools. This position is ideal for those passionate about exploring cutting-edge technologies and leading a team to achieve BCTS' technology vision. Your work will have a significant impact on the efficiency, effectiveness, and future success of BCTS as a leading resource industry organization in BC.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

Degree in computer/science, technology, engineering, business, natural resource management or a related professional field AND
Five (5) years of recent (within 5 years) related experience,

Or
An equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Related experience includes one (1) or more of the following:

Identifying, developing and implementing innovative technology to meet or improve business objectives.
Leading projects or components and/or contracts of a major technology project, utilizing project teams comprised of professional, technical, information system and business experts.
Managing relationships with senior level partners and leading consultation sessions.
Developing and delivering training for implementation of new or existing technology.
Business development, including two or more of the following: developing cost benefit analyses, feasibility studies, marketing strategies, and new business delivery models.
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

Five (5) plus years of the related experience working in the forest sector.
More than seven (7) years of related experience.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
