Job Summary
The Team
The Kootenay Boundary First Nations Relations team is a supportive, and passionate group committed to advancing reconciliation and building strong relationships with First Nations partners. Comprised of five members, this close-knit team collaborates across the region and frequently meets to align on approaches, processes, and solutions for complex issues.

The Role

In this role, you’ll lead First Nations consultations on Ministry of Forests decisions, directly contributing to the government’s reconciliation objectives. This opportunity offers valuable experience in learning about First Nations history and culture while working closely with diverse Ministry staff across various business areas.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

Degree or Diploma related to the natural resource sector (e.g., forestry, resource management, agrology, environmental science etc.) or equivalent. An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be considered.
Experience working in natural resource management.
Experience participating in multiple concurrent projects, independently or in teams within time and resource constraints.
Experience carrying out consultation with indigenous communities on natural resource applications.


Preference may be given to qualified applications who have:

Experience working with Indigenous communities
More than one (1) year experience leading consultation with First Nations

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
