About your team / Ko te tīma
You'll be joining our Operations Group, home to our frontline inspectors, authorisations and advisory, and regulatory services teams (including general counsel). The team work directly with businesses, communities, and workers across Aotearoa. We regulate in complex, real‑world environments, with people who have technical expertise and a commitment to strong relationships, accountability, and care, to reduce harm and influence system change.
As part of the Operations Leadership Team, you'll support the DCE Operations and the senior leadership team to ensure delivery of consistent and high‑quality regulatory mahi.
About the role / Ō te tūranga
This leadership role provides high‑level strategic advice, insight, and leadership support to the DCE Operations. You'll help shape group priorities, ensure cohesive planning and delivery, and support the operational mahi that keeps workers healthy and safe. You'll also lead cross‑group initiatives and contribute to the ongoing development of our operating model, systems, and performance.
What You'll Do / Ko tōu ake mahi
Lead strategic planning and alignment of Operations group priorities
Lead, coach and develop the Group Coordinator (Operations)
Provide high‑quality advice, papers and briefings to ELT, Board and Ministers
Monitor group performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities
Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Lead complex strategic initiatives
Represent the DCE Operations when needed

Proven ability to lead strategic initiatives from design to delivery
Demonstrated leadership experience
Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
Excellent written communication, including executive and board papers
Ability to story tell and connect on diverse levels
Critical thinking and analytical capability
Experience supporting organisational strategy or performance uplift
Strong eye for detail
Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience

Salary range / Awhe utu
As part of our remuneration framework the full salary range for the position is from $152,761 to $200,901. Note: KiwiSaver/SSRSS employer contribution is additional to/on top of your base salary. From 1 April 2026 our KiwiSaver employer contribution will rise to 3.5%.
