Group Planning and Performance Management
Group Planning & Performance Management ( PPM ) was created during the course of 4Q 2015, with its purpose being to drive delivery of the bank’s strategic objectives by :
• Establishing an ambitious but achievable financial and capital plan
• Providing cost transparency through regular reporting and MI
• Optimising and facilitating resource allocation decisions
• Holding management accountable for their commitments
• Partnering across the bank to challenge and support delivery of our externally communicated ambitions
About the Expense Line Governance (ELG) Function
As a governance function we manage five spend categories (Business Consulting, Expert Opinion, Audit / Account / Tax, Banking and Transactions and Non-IT Workforce).
We serve the bank’s senior leaders in governing and planning / budgeting their external vendor spend with professional services firms.
We work closely with our colleagues in Global Procurement and Finance to provide :
• Strategic advice : We help business divisions in executing their strategies by supporting development, alignment and prioritisation of the portfolio of projects that require external consulting and other professional service support.
• A robust decision making and approval process : We manage the end-to-end process from requesting proposals to mandating providers for all in-scope external services.
• Best solutions at best price : we carry out a commercial and content review of each engagement and manage commercial tender processes to drive best outcomes for the bank.
• Spend and budget transparency : We have an in-depth knowledge of Deutsche Bank’s book of work, and report the status, trends and drivers of engagements to senior management.
• Necessary compliance controls : we assure that external engagements adhere to DB policies and standards.
• Change managers : we assist and implement strategic change projects that improve transparency and efficiency across various divisions.
Responsibilities :
Reporting / Analytics
• Assist with the analysis and forecast budget implications for cost categories in partnership with Global Purchasing, divisional COO’s and finance directors
• Assist with the maintenance and improve reporting processes and tools including ensuring alignment with the bank’s strategic priorities and funding processes
• Assist with actionable insights from business data reports
• Assist with the timely production, and insightful reporting to senior management about the spend category book of work, trends and drivers
• Assist in identifying opportunities for additional cost savings and cost avoidance
• Drive the zero based budgeting in cost categories under governance
Cost Governance / Change Management
• Act as advisor to Deutsche Bank management
• Ensure that engagements are aligned to strategy
• Contribute focussed and decision-driven content analysis
• Partner with Global Purchasing in leading commercial negotiations with external firms
• Enforce adherence to governance processes and budgets
• Support ELG operating model improvements and process optimisation globally
• Under take strategic change projects that will further group goals
Requirements
• University degree ideally in economics / business administration with grades good’ or better
• Minimum of 8 years of work experience, ideally in Finance
• Strong Excel skills. VBA skills as advantage
• Strong analytical and conceptual skills
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communications
• Ability to foster a good working relationship with senior management
• Team player and comfortable to work and collaborate across divisions and cost categories
• Expertise in conflict identification and resolution along with commercial negotiations an advantage
• Good institutional knowledge within DB of advantage
• Experience working in Financial Services of advantage
