The Opportunity
As the Policy and Advocacy Lead for the City of Perth, you will be a strategic policy expert and a critical thinker. In this dynamic role, you will spearhead the development of policy and advocacy positions that align with the City's strategic objectives.
Reporting to the Executive Director Governance and Strategy, your responsibilities will primarily include:
High level research and analysis to develop policy positions and advocacy statements;
Development, implementation and review of the City’s advocacy framework to support strategic objectives;
Translate complex information for target audiences and prepare submissions, reports, presentations and other forms of written communications aligned to the City’s strategic objectives; and
Lead the establishment, implementation and review protocols and procedure to strengthen, support and mature the City’s strategic policy and advocacy approach.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will possess:
An understanding of government relations, policy and processes as well as an appreciation of key public policy issues at a state and national level
Advanced research, analytical, policy and advocacy skills;
Ability to prepare complex reports, policy papers and briefings; and
Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.

Eligibility
To be eligible to work for us, you will need to demonstrate:
A right to work in Australia (e.g. a birth certificate, current passport or current visa);
A current ‘C’ class Australian drivers licence; and
A satisfactory National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months).
