Structural Designer/Drafter

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Structural Designer/Drafter to join our Southern Building Structures team in Christchurch. You’ll play a key role in delivering structural design documentation across a range of building projects, working closely with engineers and other disciplines to ensure coordinated, high-quality outcomes.
This role offers variety and challenge, with opportunities to develop your technical skills and contribute meaningfully to project delivery. You’ll be involved in:
Preparing and overseeing structural drawings for complex projects, ensuring alignment with company standards, quality systems, and budgets.
Managing and verifying electronic drawing exchanges and coordination.
Delivering design documentation from concept to completion, meeting quality and technical excellence.
Providing structural design guidance and support to colleagues.
Communicating design intent clearly to internal teams and external clients, building strong working relationships.
Contributing to tender and bid submissions, showcasing Beca’s design expertise.
Identifying opportunities to improve processes and optimise project outcomes.

You’re a motivated drafter with a passion for structural design and a desire to grow your career. You bring:
A minimum of 5 years relevant work experience.
Relevant tertiary qualification in building structures design.
Extensive experience in applying design and drafting principles within a consulting environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and best practices.
Certification/recognition from a professional design body is preferred.
