We are looking for a Structural Designer/Drafter to join our current group of passionate engineers, designers and project managers. This role will be Newcastle based.

Key Responsibilities

Set up and manage project models and drawing sets in line with the BIM Execution Plan, naming conventions, coordinates, and worksets.

Develop and maintain Revit families/AutoCAD blocks and standard details.

Produce reinforcement detailing and schedules (bar bending lists) for walls, slabs, tanks, and associated structural components.

Detail construction and movement joints, penetrations, and waterproofing elements to meet durability and leakage performance.

Coordinate interfaces with civil, geotechnical, mechanical and architectural disciplines; participate in model reviews.

Prepare concept, tender and construction deliverables (GA plans, sections, details, notes) and manage revisions, transmittals, and document control in the common data environment (e.g. ACC).

Assist with quantity take‑offs from models/drawings and support buildability reviews.

Support design verification and QA/QC: check prints, red pen mark ups, self‑checks, peer reviews, and maintain drafting checklists.

Provide construction‑phase support: respond to RFIs, issue mark‑ups/sketches, and produce as‑built/record drawings.

Contribute to continuous improvement: maintain templates and standards, capture lessons learned, and mentor junior drafters.

Qualifications

Completed relevant tertiary qualifications

Skills and experience

Experience in producing structural designs and drawings in AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit.

Proven experience drafting and detailing concrete and steel structures, with sound understanding of construction methodologies and buildability.

Demonstrated working knowledge of the relevant Australian Standards and Codes, with the ability to interpret and apply them to deliver compliant drawings and models.

Strong problem‑solving skills, meticulous attention to detail, and rigorous checking/quality control.

Well‑developed verbal and written communication skills; proven ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
