Company Description
Hybrid working model (Melbourne based only)
Starting on May 27
At Open Universities Australia (OUA), we believe quality education should be accessible to everyone.
For more than 30 years, we’ve helped over 400,000 students take their next step. Often during some of the most important moments of their lives. Every experience we create, conversation we have and decision we make helps open new doors for learners across Australia.
When we do our best work, we help change lives every day.
Our values guide how we work together. We act for our customers, care for each other and focus on continuous improvement. We are proud of our friendly, curious and inclusive culture where people are trusted, supported and encouraged to grow.
As a Student Advisor, you will play a meaningful role in that mission. Every conversation you have is an opportunity to help someone take a step toward a better future, whether that is changing careers, building confidence or achieving a long-held goal.
Our Advisors come from all walks of life, including retail, hospitality, healthcare, education and contact centres. What matters most is not where you have worked before, but your ability to connect, listen and genuinely support others.
You will become a trusted guide for people navigating their study journey. As the first point of contact for prospective students, you will listen, support and help them make confident, informed decisions about their future.
You will join a close-knit, cross-functional team of around 10 Advisors, working together to support students from first enquiry through to enrolment and beyond.
What you’ll be doing
You will play an important role in helping students feel informed, supported and empowered. This includes:
Having meaningful conversations with prospective students via phone, email or chat
Understanding their goals and helping them explore the right study options
Guiding them through the enrolment process with clarity and confidence
Answering questions and providing support at every step
Collaborating with your team to share knowledge and continuously improve how we support students
You will build your knowledge and confidence through our training program, starting with outbound sales, with ongoing support from Capability Coaches and your team.
What we are looking for
We are looking for people who are friendly, curious, and great at connecting with others. You will thrive in this role if you:
Enjoy talking to new people and helping them make important decisions
Are a strong communicator, both over the phone and in writing
Are a great listener, empathetic and solution-focused
Are comfortable using computers and learning new systems
Are adaptable, resilient, and eager to grow
Experience in customer-facing roles such as retail, hospitality, healthcare or contact centres is helpful, but not essential.
You will also need to be available to work on a rotating roster between Monday and Saturday, with occasional Sunday shifts at the end of each quarter.
