SUMMARY:
The student assistant primarily engaged in research with secondary materials will assist faculty or members of the Dean’s office with various research projects.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
Research, editing, and typing of academic journal articles and books
Develop and maintain files on issues related to the current project
Do library and online research as required (e.g. review current literature, statistics, legal research, academic journals, surveys, online databases, etc.)
Assist with photocopying, typing, filing, and overall organization of these materials
Work on a variety of initiatives that the Faculty needs assistance with from internal marketing to students, student engagement, course programming
Communicate with faculty, peers, relevant internal and external partners as directed by faculty
Research, collate, and assist in planning relevant events and identify ways to connect students to alumni and industry as needed
Create tracking systems and processes to ensure systems are in place to maintain strategies into the future
Research, compile data and write papers to be incorporated into proposals a variety of Faculty purposes
Prepare summary reports including headings and information which can be subsequently used to draft briefing notes or craft power point presentations
REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to follow directions with minimal supervision
Demonstrated strong attention to detail and quality deliverables
Ability to use MS Office tools, including databases for tracking or qualitative and/or quantitative studies
Good interpersonal, organization, research and written skills
A professional and positive attitude
Knowledge of the research area

Salary Information:
Student Assistants are paid as per the following:
Less than one year of post-secondary (less than 30 credits) – BC Minimum Wage
One year of post-secondary (30-60 credits) – BC Minimum Wage plus 8%
With a post-secondary diploma or degree – BC Minimum Wage plus 21%
