An exciting opportunity exists for Registered Nurses / Registered Midwives considering a career in the Child and Family Health speciality, to apply theory to practice in a supportive and dynamic environment. If you are currently enrolled in, or undertaking, a postgraduate qualification in Child & Family Health Nursing this is the position for you. You will have the benefit of undertaking your clinical placements whilst employed - no need to use your valuable annual leave entitlements. You will have access to the support of a CNE and CNC whilst undertaking your studies. The service provides monthly clinical supervision, monthly peer review and education opportunities for all staff. Where you'll be working
Population and Community Health (PaCH) is part of South Eastern Sydney Local Health District.
PaCH provides community health services that give care to individuals, families and carers, as well as population health services that focus on the whole community or key groups within the community.
PaCH's services are provided at the District's hospitals, community-based facilities including child and family health centres, community health centres and specialist clinics. We work with other service providers across South Eastern Sydney Local Health District, including hospitals and mental health services.

The Role
The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is ‘exceptional care, healthier lives’. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.
Child and Family Health Nurses and Midwives are Registered Nurses and Midwives who have completed additional post graduate qualifications in primary health care to enable them to work within a primary health care model aimed at providing children aged 0-5 years with a comprehensive service, incorporating evidence based practice and cultural sensitivities, while aligning with current policies. This involves undertaking physical, emotional and psychosocial assessments to identify family’s strengths and vulnerabilities to enable early identification and appropriate interventions. The service delivery is provided in the Child and Family Health Clinics, Central intake, Family Care Cottages, and in the home setting. The Service also works in partnership with specialized programmes to support vulnerable families with Sustaining NSW Families (SNF), Building Strong Foundation Service (BSF), and the Parent Support Team.

Selection Criteria:
Current registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency- AHPRA
Specific postgraduate qualification in Child and Family Health Nursing or working towards
Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with families within a primary health care setting
Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others
Demonstrated understanding of breast feeding and lactation
Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems
Detailed knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Registered Nurse/Midwife in applying these principles
Current unrestricted NSW driver’s Licence
