Summary
The position is responsible for the production and makeup support needs of VideoLink's facilities as needed by the Operations & Production Departments. Work schedule is based on a 40-hour work week; however, this position requires participation in weekly/monthly "on-call" rotation and may include working unconventional hours (most likely Sunday through Thursday or Tuesday through Saturday; weekend coverage entails being on-call for the day, and weekday coverage will tend to be morning shifts), therefore flexibility is a must. Our facility is a 24-hour operation, seven days a week, including holidays. This position reports to the Director of Operations. The ideal candidate should demonstrate the desire to be trained in broadcast and production capacities and be open to training on base makeup skills. WHAT YOU'LL DO
VideoLink is looking for a Studio Technician (Freelance) to support broadcast network live shot requests. This position will work onsite at VideoLink Newton and/or Liberty Square in Boston and will interact directly with the in house VideoLink Operations team as well as in studio guests.
Day-to-day responsibilities
• Collaborate with our team, broadcast clients, and studio guests
• Open the office and prepare the green room prior to guest arrival
• Provide excellent client services to guests, including but not limited to offering amenities, refreshments, and (preferred) hair/makeup services
• Set up control room and studio equipment for live broadcast interviews
• Perform technical checks in the studio with the remote VideoLink staff
• Properly place microphone and IFB earpiece on talent
• Have technical ability to support troubleshooting initiatives as needed
• Sanitize equipment after use and maintain high standards of studio cleanliness
• Properly power down studio and control room equipment upon completion of live shot
• Secure and lock up the office upon departure
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Must-have skills & job qualifications
• At least 1 year of experience in the area of production, broadcast, events, or similar field
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Excellent attention to customer service
• Reliability for arrival in line with call time and guest on air hit time
• Ability to maintain composure and positive attitude under stress in high pressure situations
• Technical ability to support troubleshooting of studio equipment as needed
Nice-to-have skills & job qualifications
• College degree
• Certificates
• Hair/Make-up certification experience preferred
