Job Description
LearningMate helps K-12 organizations create digital content that is personalized, accessible, and engaging. We are looking for highly qualified English Language Arts subject matter experts (SMEs) to work with our team over the next 12-15 months as we develop a comprehensive and engaging ELA program for US-based, standard and honors-level students in Grades +-12.
Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for supporting the team and the stakeholders by actively contributing to a robust, cohesive grades +-12, ELA program that includes honors-level lessons.
You will focus on the analysis, transformation, upliftment, and development of proprietary content based on your expertise in these specific grade levels.
You will be working with the Lead Instructional Designer, Learning Design Strategists, Curriculum Director, and Project Managers to provide support related but not limited to recommending (outlining), authoring, and editing:
• desired student experience for the course and overall pedagogy;
• course units, topics, and lessons;
• lesson structure and content;
• media storyboards; workbooks, teacher course guides, and guides for parents/guardians; and
• assessment (traditional and performance-based tasks) and projects.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Masters degree in U.S. based education
• Solid awareness of pedagogy and skills in reading, writing, grammar, and word study
• (specialization curriculum writing for grades +-12 for the U.S. market)
• +-12, ELA teaching, specifically with honors-level experience
• ELA curriculum design and development is required, specifically for grades +-12
Experience: min. 8 to 10 years, teacher leaders or department chairs preferred
Availability requirement: Minimum 20 hours per week
Desired Skills:
• Experience in curriculum writing, assessment writing, quality online course development, and
• academic standards alignment with an emphasis on learning accessibility (e.g., Universal Design for Learning)
• Excellent written and verbal English skills
• Substantial word processing, spreadsheet, and online authoring system skills
• Experience in designing developmentally appropriate literacy instruction
• Preferred Experience:
• Recent grades +-12 lesson/unit/course building (development of content) for an online delivery format
• Experience adapting lessons for asynchronous learning
• Alternative text writing experience
• Media storyboarding experience for high school ELA
• Experience providing support for multi-lingual and other learners
