Job Description
We are looking for a reliable and creative Substitute Art Instructor to step in and lead classes when needed.
This role is ideal for someone who is confident working with children, comfortable leading a group, and able to adapt quickly in a classroom setting.
You will be provided with class structure and guidance, but you should feel comfortable guiding students, managing the class, and creating a positive and engaging experience.
What You’ll Do
Class Instruction
Lead toddler, kids, or youth art classes as needed
Guide students through activities using provided themes or lesson structure
Encourage creativity and individual expression
Classroom Management
Create a calm, positive, and supportive environment
Manage small groups of children independently
Support students who may need extra encouragement
Studio Support
Set up and clean up materials before and after class
Ensure the studio space is respected and organized
Studio Tasks
Organize supplies and maintain the studio space
Support light administrative or preparation tasks as needed

Requirements
Degree or current studies in Fine Arts, Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field
Experience working with children in a classroom, camp, or similar setting
Strong communication and classroom management skills
Ability to lead a class independently with minimal supervision

Casual, on-call position
Hours will vary based on studio needs
Primarily evenings and weekends
Based in Edmonton, in-studio role
