For over 135 years, University Settlement has been an anchor in the low-income and immigrant communities where we work, offering pioneering programs in early childhood care and education, youth development, eviction prevention, literacy, theater and visual arts, older adults services, and mental health. Each year, we engage over 40,000 New Yorkers through our network of 30 sites in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Responsibilities
• Follow individual schedule as provided by Director.
• Light Housekeeping in classrooms and offices as scheduled
• Assist Cook in preparation of meals if needed.
• Replace paper products in classrooms & offices when needed
• Maintain kitchen and pantry in neat and orderly manner.
• Make local food purchases in needed.
• Wash dishes and utensils according to sanitary practices.
• Attend meetings, Staff Development workshops/training and special events.
• Keep kitchen equipment in good order, request repairs if needed.
• Maintain good working relationship with supervisor and co-workers.
• Work with director in completing annual evaluation of self.
• Complete all written documentation in a timely manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
• Experience in working with food preparation and general cleaning
• NYC Food Handler’s Certificate
Work Schedule: Per Diem, Monday - Friday, Flexible schedule, up to 35 hours per week
