Job Description
The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a (2026-2026 School Year) Substitute School Nurse (District-Wide) to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential.
REQUIREMENTS:
NYS Registered Nurse License. Must be registered in New York State.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform any medical screening, assessment, and diagnosis of students
Administer medications and treatment as prescribed by a licensed healthcare provider in compliance with district policies and procedures
Provide healthcare education to students, faculty, and staff
Collaborate with medical professionals and other healthcare providers
Facilitate referrals to appropriate medical and community-based resources
Maintain accurate records of medical care
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and school policies
Job Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience as a school nurse and pediatrics is preferred
Knowledge of school health/mental health program policies, procedures, and regulations
Proven leadership, organizational, written, and oral communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, other school staff, and parents
Strong problem-solving skills
