Overview:
Temporary Full Time Summer Student
Bean Sprouts Childcare Co-op (BSCC) is a provincially licensed Early Childhood Education centre that operates as a nonprofit, parent-guided Cooperative. We are currently hiring the following positions:
- (4) Full-time Summer Student; funded through Canada Summer Jobs Program.
These 4 positions are Temporary Full Time Summer Student opportunities. Each term position is for 8 Weeks at 35 hrs/week, starting at $16/hour and will run May 12, 2026 - August 30, 2026. Shifts will be Monday to Friday between the hours of 7:30 am - 6:00 pm.
Successful candidates will be required to provide the employer with a criminal record; vulnerability check and standard First Aid & CPR certificate. Applicants must also meet the Canada Summer Job Criteria.
Duties
Building positive relationships with children and assessing their abilities, interests and needs. Discussing progress or concerns with parents and other staff members.
Ensuring supervision and safety of children at all times; Understanding and complying with government licensing regulations, and BSCS policies and procedures.
Cleaning and sanitizing child care spaces, toys and equipment
Developing and implementing child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.
Leading activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, taking children to local points of interest and providing opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity.
Planning and maintaining an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children.
Guiding and assisting children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits.
Establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with co-workers, parents, and community service providers working with children.
Other duties as assigned.
