Job Description
Reporting to the Manager, Transfusion & Transplantation Medicine Provincial Program (TTM) the Clinical Supervisor, is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of people to ensure completion, safety and operational delivery of lab services. This position is responsible and accountable for day-to-day operational leadership for their assigned area of responsibility of clinical lab services. In conjunction with the Manager, the Clinical Supervisor is responsible for engaging, motivating, developing, and guiding employees as aligned with Alberta Precision Laboratories and department strategies The supervisor position provides directly supports recruitment, training, competence assessment and performance of staff in their assigned area of responsibility. The supervisor collaborates closely with their team(s) to ensure safety processes and procedures are in place, regular monitoring, and appropriate use of resources, oversee implementation of technology, and identify opportunities for improving effectiveness, performance, and productivity. In addition, the supervisor plays a key role in team building, staff engagement, and effective change management. The supervisor develops and maintains strong working relationships with their manager, key site stakeholders within the designated Zone Hospital(s), as well as provincial stakeholders to provide operational leadership to the laboratory.

Required Qualifications:
Formal education in a laboratory health care discipline (Medical Laboratory Technologist). Maintenance of regulatory certification where required by education. Intermediate LIS and Microsoft computer skills. CMLTA registration as required if engaged in the supervision of regulated members who provide professional services to the public.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Experience within the clinical specialty. 3-5 years’ experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a unionized setting. Demonstrated leadership, conflict resolution and/or change management skills. Demonstrated engagement of team members supplemented by strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Demonstrated ability to build, foster and maintain professional relationships. Excellent organizationally skills and ability to complete tasks accurately within a varied, dynamic environment.
