In this position, you will oversee coordination of festivals that rely on Parks assets, ensure parks are used responsibly, Parks and Open Spaces (P&OS) assets are protected, P&OS priorities are maintained, and activities comply with the Parks and Pathway Bylaw and P&OS policies. Primary duties include:

Supervise employees including recruitment, onboarding and training, coaching, monitoring performance, development opportunities, attending to grievances. Ensure adequate scheduling to staff facilities and work completion.
Support Parks Event Specialists responsible for working with festival organizers during their planning process ensuring protection of park assets
Support Event Technical Services (ETS) staff responsible for production of festivals.
Develop annual work plans, processes, budget forecasts and P&OS service priorities for festivals.
Understand Corporate priorities and ensure the interpretation and alignment of existing and new special event policies with the goals and objectives of P&OS business unit and interested parties.
Respond to public complaints and Councillor inquiries.
Oversee complex budget with chargebacks to internal unit, and significant festival infrastructure. Ensures safety standards are upheld for staff in unique positions and unique hazard assessments.
Qualifications
A completed 2-year diploma in environmental studies, recreation, education, volunteer management, special events management, business administration or related field plus at least 8 years of related work experience; OR
A degree in environmental studies, recreation, education, volunteer management, special events management, business administration or related field plus at least 5 years of related work experience.
The work experience must include at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (or provincial equivalency) with no more than 6 demerits OR a Class 5 Graduated Driver's Licence (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits, and no current charges or suspensions pending is required.
Access to a personal vehicle for business use is required.
Experience with outdoor festival management is an asset
Excellent skill and experience are needed in areas of supervision and leadership, strategic thinking, political acumen, and change management. Candidates must also have strong communication and interpersonal skills. The Supervisor consistently demonstrates a collaborative approach, and places importance on workplace culture.
Ability to obtain City of Calgary operator's permit.
Working Conditions: This position may be required to be on-site for events which occur outside of regular business hours.

Compensation: Level M1 $115,627 - 144,534 per annum
Hours of work: Standard 35-hour work week. Occasional evening, weekend, statutory days work may be required.
Days of work: This position works a 5-day work week with one day off in a 3-week cycle. Occasional evening, weekend, and statutory day work may be required.
