The Opportunity
We’re looking to fill a Support Analyst (SQL) position at RFA Bank of Canada!
The Support Analyst is responsible for managing daily operational activities, responding to internal customer requests, and ensuring the reliability of business critical applications in a data rich environment. A core function of this role includes monitoring and troubleshooting automated schedulers responsible for running daily ETL processes. The Support Analyst uses SQL extensively to investigate job failures, analyze data discrepancies, validate data movement, and support the resolution of issues related to ETL workflows and application behaviour.
In addition to operational support, the Support Analyst participates in testing activities by executing SQL based test cases, assisting in defect triage, and validating system functionality. This role requires strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with development, QA, infrastructure, and business teams to maintain seamless end to end system operations.
Core Responsibilities
As the Support Analyst (SQL), you will:
Monitor daily automated scheduling systems and ETL processes, identifying and resolving job failures or anomalies.
Investigate application and data issues using SQL to analyze root causes and validate expected results.
Respond to internal customer requests and provide timely, professional support for application related inquiries.
Work closely with QA and development teams to support testing activities, including executing SQL driven test cases.
Document recurring issues, solutions, and recommended improvements to support continuous operational stability.
Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure smooth data flows and consistent system performance.
Assist in troubleshooting production incidents and contribute to root cause analysis and resolution.
Support minor configuration updates or data corrections when appropriate.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or Diploma in IT
3+ years of Support experience supporting data systems applications
Experience with various software testing lifecycle activities including test case creation, test plan, estimation etc.
Strong SQL querying skills for investigation, troubleshooting, and testing.
Ability to diagnose and resolve application issues with minimal supervision.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Experience supporting end to end operational processes or business applications.
Ability to manage multiple support requests in a fast paced environment.
Familiarity with basic testing practices and executing SQL based test cases.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes.

Experience with JAMS Job Scheduler or similar enterprise scheduling tools
Exposure to ETL design concepts or data warehouse environments.
Experience with BDD, automated testing tools, or QA methodologies.
Knowledge of scripting languages used for automation (PowerShell, Python, etc.).
