We are seeking a consistent, grounded and values-driven support worker to walk alongside a man in his thirties, supporting him to build a meaningful, connected and independent life within his community.
About the Person: A friendly, observant and witty man with a great sense of humour who enjoys being around people, especially those he knows and trusts. The person we support takes pride in contributing to his community, is passionate about helping others, and values feeling useful, appreciated and connected.

Music (including creating music and piano & guitar)
Hiking, Staying Active Outdoors & Local Swimming Pools
Bird-watching, Collecting & Identifying Feathers
Hosting Events, Celebrations & BBQs & Giving Thoughtful Gifts to Others
Community Group Activities or Social Clubs
About the Role: This is not a “care” role in the traditional sense. It’s about building capacity, modelling everyday life skills, & creating opportunities for genuine participation in community life.
You will:
Provide support that builds confidence, independence & everyday living skills
Use real-life situations to guide decision-making, communication & social understanding
Help develop routines around personal care, cooking, & healthy living
Support safe & meaningful community engagement
Build a consistent, trusting relationship with both the person & the family
Pay: This role commences at level 2.1 Casual Rate: $43.23/hour
Hours: 12 hours per week, Thursday & Friday: 9:00am – 3:00pm
Structure: Thursday support should include activities such as being outdoors, hiking, disc golf, bird watching or similar. It’s important that the activities are intentional, valuable & purposeful, and should be intended to build capacity, skills, confidence & independence.
A key part of this role includes supporting this person in volunteering for his brother’s business on Fridays to collect bottles & cans and take them to the nearby recycling depot. This means you will need to be comfortable with transporting the bottles & cans in your own vehicle.
All applicants must have or be willing to obtain:
Driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
NDIS Worker Check (or willingness to obtain)
First Aid Certificate
What Matters in This Role - We are looking for someone who:
Leads by example and models respectful, socially appropriate behaviour
Can gently and consistently guide learning in everyday moments
Understands that behaviour is communication, and responds with curiosity, not judgement
Is comfortable holding steady & can confidently navigate a situation where things feel uncertain
Can balance warmth with clear, respectful boundaries
Values family involvement and working collaboratively
Is reliable and committed to building a long-term, trusting relationship
In this role, you will be supported by your Facilitator, who will guide you with ongoing coaching & mentoring, with the person and their family central to that process.
You’ll also need to:
Be comfortable using your own vehicle for community access and transporting recycling (bottles & cans)
Confidently & positively support navigating social situation
Recognise and respond to anxiety, communication differences and support emotional regulation
About the Company: Community Living Project's Mission is to assist people with disability to live their own unique and purposeful life of inclusion through having: home, relationships, competencies and highly valued roles in their community. We work closely with each person & their family to develop a positive vision for the future & self-direct their own support. We believe in working with people, not for them. That means building genuine relationships, creating opportunities for contribution, and using everyday moments to support learning, confidence and independence.
This role offers the chance to make a genuine difference in someone’s life, supporting them to build friendships and community connections, develop independence and life skills, and to contribute meaningfully to the people and places around them. If you’re someone who values real relationships, consistency, and purposeful work, we’d love to hear from you.

Company Overview
For more than 30 years, the Community Living Project has worked in close partnership with families to build opportunities for a good life for their family member who is living with a disability. Community Living Project focuses on building inclusion. To us, this means that everyone matters and all people are welcomed, included and contributing to community life. We work with one person at a time to craft individualised support in a way that ensures each person (and their family) has as much control as possible over all aspects of their life. We believe all people should have the opportunity to pursue a unique lifestyle that is personally meaningful, relevant and typically intertwined in their community. We will not offer you a generic ‘program’, ‘vacancy’ or ‘place’. Instead, we will help you to craft your participation and inclusion in the community.
