Job Description
We are looking for a skilled and passionate Sushi Cook to join our kitchen team. The Sushi Cook will be responsible for preparing and presenting cold and hot high-quality sushi, sashimi, sushi rolls and tempura dishes in a fast-paced and high-energy environment. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of sushi preparation, fryers, knife skills, and an appreciation for fresh, high-quality ingredients.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare (hot and cold) sushi, sashimi, sushi rolls and tempura items following established recipes and techniques.
Ensure the quality, freshness, and presentation of food.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area.
Work with a variety of ingredients such as fish, seafood, rice, and vegetables.
Follow all food safety and hygiene guidelines.
Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Ensure all sushi/fryer dishes are prepared in accordance with customer specifications.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a sushi chef or cook.
Strong knowledge of sushi preparation techniques, including rice cooking and fish slicing.
Familiarity with various sushi rolls, sashimi, and tempura dishes.
Ability to handle high-pressure situations and maintain focus.
Excellent knife skills and attention to detail.
Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards.
Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication skills and a passion for food.
Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy items as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a high-volume sushi restaurant.
