Position Overview
Temporary Part-time, Adult Education Green Janitor Education Program (GJEP) Instructor: The Program trains janitorial workers to think critically about their role in sustainability and green buildings. Provides janitorial workers with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions on how to clean while protecting their health and the health of tenants, as well as actionable strategies to become advocates for green cleaning and resource conservation at work and at home. This is a multi-level class with a full curriculum provided. Classes are 1 hour-long and in-person. . Program duration is 30 hours. Classes begin June 15, 2026. Pay rates are based according to the BSP instructor wage scale. Class instruction is conducted in Spanish and advanced/fluent Spanish is required.
Experience & Education:
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• California Adult Ed Teaching Credential is highly preferred but not required.
Experience:
• Minimum one to two years classroom-based instruction.
• Instructors must be able to address diverse student needs in a multilevel classroom.
• Experience with low-literacy English learners is a plus.
• Adult-instruction experience is a plus.
Skills & Abilities:
• Spanish conversation skills are highly preferred.
• Demonstrated commitment to social and economic justice.
• Engaging and energetic with an ability to connect with people of other cultures and backgrounds. Exceptional people skills and cultural sensitivity are essential..
• Flexibility, strong organization, and attention to detail.
• Willingness to work with and incorporate volunteers into the classroom.
• Reliable means of transportation and ability to teach in-person.
• Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to comply with administrative duties in a timely and efficient manner.
• As a guideline, BSP adheres to all state and federal laws. BSP enforces a policy mandating all new employees provide proof of vaccination.
