The opportunity - Te āheinga
Are you ready to make a meaningful impact in local government finance?
NPDC is seeking a talented and driven Systems Accountant to join our Finance team on a two year fixed-term contract with the potential for this to be extended further. This is a pivotal role where you will take the lead in the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our financial systems.
This is a unique opportunity to bring your technical accounting knowledge and systems experience into a role that offers both strategic influence and hands-on involvement. You'll be part of a supportive and collaborative team, committed to innovation, excellence, and making a difference.
Key responsibilities - Ngā haepapa matua:
Develop, maintain and enhance financial and rating systems and associated reporting
Support revenue receipting, budget, asset management and payroll systems
Lead process improvements through the finance team and ensure the effectiveness of financial controls
Ensure the systems are robust, customer friendly and fit for purpose and that transactional processing is reliable and accurate
Act as the key liaison for the finance team with the Digital Enablement team
Provide support to finance team members to ensure the prompt resolution of issues
Actively ensure that legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislation
Essential skills and experience - Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako:
Holds a relevant business degree, with a minimum of five years experience in accounting systems and process improvement and/or training environment
Strong systems and accounting experience
Extensive experience working with ERP systems and report writing
Experience in managing and delivering projects
Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot system issues
Strong business acumen
Able to work autonomously
Knowledge of local government environment desirable but not essential

You can expect to start in this full-time, fixed-term role with a salary of between $111,531 and $120,204.
