The Role
The Systems Accounting Officer role provides an excellent opportunity for an emerging finance professional to build a long-term career within a supportive and evolving finance function. The position supports core accounting and reporting activities while offering exposure to modern finance systems, automation, and data‑ driven decision‑ making. Working closely with experienced finance colleagues, the role contributes to accurate‑ financial reporting and continuous improvement across finance processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities
Support general ledger activities, budgeting processes, and management reporting
Assist with the preparation and analysis of financial data and reports
Maintain accurate financial records with a high level of attention to detail
Contribute to the effective use and improvement of finance systems and reporting tools
Support data integrity, validation, and reconciliation activities
Assist with finance process improvement initiatives, including automation opportunities
Our Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is nearing completion of accounting qualifications and is seeking to establish a long-term career in finance. They will have a solid understanding of core accounting principles and a strong interest in finance systems, data, and emerging technologies such as automation and AI‑ enabled‑ tools. Exposure to ERP or reporting platforms (such as Business Central, Solver, Power BI, or similar) will be highly regarded, along with strong data handling skills, attention to detail, and a genuine desire to learn and grow within a professional finance environment.
Essential Requirements
The below key requirements are required to be demonstrated by all employees to Omni.
Be an Australian Citizen
Hold and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance (or the ability to obtain one)
Have excellent communication, negotiation and relationship building skills
In addition, this role will require:
Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.
CA/CPA/CIMA qualified (or actively working towards completion).
One (1) to Three (3) years’ experience in finance or accounting.
Competence in the Microsoft Office Suite of applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint.
Exposure to finance systems, ERP platforms, or reporting tools (Business Central, Solver, Power BI or similar).
Understanding of core accounting concepts, including financial accounting, budgeting, and management reporting.
Strong data handling skills with high attention to detail.
Interest in finance systems, automation, and AI enabled tools.
Proven ability in collaborating with stakeholders and colleagues and fostering positive relationships.
Demonstrated ability to negotiate, influence and constructively engage with stakeholders.
