The role | Te tunga

We are looking for an intermediate Systems Engineer. The position is located within the Analytics service line of Technology Services, working with other systems engineers and analyst developers, and alongside our ICT Business Analyst, Service Assurance Consultant, Service Portfolio Manager, Solution Architects, and business users. The successful applicant shall work collaboratively with systems engineers from other service lines to design, develop, and deploy, new capabilities via user stories and acceptance criteria, while ensuring the data integrity of our systems. The role is a mixture of provisioning L4 support and project work, providing maintenance across supported products.

Applicants need to have knowledge at an Enterprise scale of the following:

Complex distributed systems

SAFe Agile principles and practices

IT operations, in an Always-Up, Always-Available service environment

Infrastructure as Code application/service deployments, for Cloud and On-Premises

Load balancing, networking, and routing

Patch management (automated and manual) along with other security mechanisms

As a member of a Technology Delivery team, which typically comprises eight members, reporting to a Technology Delivery Manager, you would:

Monitor, manage and maintain installed systems, data bases and infrastructure to ensure the achievement of the availability and performance requirements.

Install, configure and test systems, databases and infrastructure including management toolsets

Monitor solution performance against organisational need to identify trends or improvement opportunities, identifying solutions and working with your team to implement.

Contribute to the management of organisation risk by implementing best practises for system security, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery.

Provide operational support and ongoing business optimisation, such as costs and capacity planning of solutions already in production.

Perform routine systems, databases and software audits, identifying risk and opportunities.

Exhibit effective management of change, incidents, service requests and other work items, to deliver successful outcomes

Demonstrate an ability for establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships, communicating clearly with a diverse audience

Have at least one year experience in a Systems Engineer position, working in a corporate Enterprise environment

Commit to developing your technical competencies and organisational knowledge

Successful candidates shall thrive in an environment of high performing peers solving problems on-the-fly, and will have some demonstratable expertise with the following:

Microsoft Windows (administrating multiple versions)

Microsoft IIS web server

Microsoft SQL Server, or similar

Managing databases using SQL

Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Entra

Microsoft Azure and Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines

Bash, Microsoft PowerShell, or similar

Expertise with any of the following would be advantageous, but not essential:

Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu Linux

NGINX web server

Terraform

Databricks

Containerisation technology

Certification and accreditation (C&A)
