Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tailor/Alteration Person to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing precise alterations and tailoring to ensure garments meet clients’ specifications and fit perfectly. Responsibilities
Conduct fittings with clients to determine alteration requirements and ensure optimal fit.
Perform alterations including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, adjusting sleeves, and other tailoring tasks.
Operate sewing machines and hand-sew delicate or complex adjustments as needed.
Ensure all garments are finished to high standards of quality and craftsmanship.
Maintain a clean, organised workspace with all tools and materials properly stored.
Communicate effectively with clients regarding their specific needs and provide professional advice when necessary.
Keep accurate records of alterations performed for each client.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.
Experience
Proven experience as a tailor or alteration specialist, ideally within a retail or bespoke tailoring environment.
Proficiency in using various sewing machines, including industrial models, overlockers, and hand-sewing techniques.
Strong understanding of garment construction, fabrics, and fitting principles.
Ability to interpret clothing patterns and technical drawings accurately.
Excellent organisational skills with an eye for detail to ensure precision in all alterations.
Good communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and team members. This position is ideal for someone passionate about tailoring who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship while providing exceptional customer service.
