Job Description
The Tasting Room Supervisor delivers outstanding hospitality to all of our guests, showcasing their passion for hospitality, sales, and wine together. Building a thorough knowledge of our grape growing, winemaking, and wine portfolio to ensure our guests feel welcome, informed, and leave with the expectations exceeded. Must possess a positive attitude, confidence, patience and an ability to think quickly whilst managing many tasks simultaneously.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Be on the floor in full uniform and ready to go for scheduled start time.
Warmly welcome guests upon entrance and thank guests upon departure.
Refer to info sheet for general operations and ETS’s for event specific details. Understand all details listed on these documents and be prepared to answer questions from guests or staff.
Communicate/collaborate with team members across all departments to ensure guest satisfaction.
Provide an exceptional and memorable tasting experience, while also ensuring operational needs of the Tasting Room are met, supporting team members and solving on the job challenges.
Delegate tasks to other team members and supervise their performance.
Ensure guest satisfaction and gracefully handle any conflicts or complaints.
Remain aware of the guest’s wine knowledge level and curate the experience to meet their needs.
Motivate and support the Tasting Room Sales Associates to achieve sales goals and targets set by the Director of Sales and Marketing.
Serve food and drinks to tables located in the Tasting Room.
Understand all wine shop merchandise items, their prices, purpose and connection to Lightfoot & Wolfville.
Assist the Hospitality Manager and Operations Manager with inventory management and ordering.
Ensure the retail shelves, fridge and displays are fully stocked, organized and visually appealing.
Help facilitate a safe environment by keeping work and guest areas clean, safe and organized. Alert Operations Manager to any safety concerns you may have.
Ensure safe service standards are being met while monitoring guests for intoxication. Communicate with other team members and management which guests need to be monitored closely.
Comply with and follow all Lightfoot & Wolfville health and safety policies and procedures.
Follow and comply with any applicable government mandated policies. (e.g Serve Right Server Certification)
Contribute to an overall pleasant guest experience to increase the Lightfoot & Wolfville reputation and ensure sustainable growth.
Act as advocate for the Nova Scotia wine industry and answer questions about local tourism points of attraction.
Develop comprehensive understanding of Lightfoot & Wolfville wine portfolio, business pillars and philosophies, outstanding hospitality standards and story.
Develop comprehensive understanding of Lightfoot & Wolfville culinary offerings, whether that be the restaurant or events menus, and be able to provide guests with brief explanations of each menu item.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
1 – 2 years or more experience in customer service or relevant role is required
Proficiency in English, multilingual (specifically French) is an asset
NSLC Responsible Retailing
Serve Right Server certification required
Must be 1+ years or older
