About the position

Responsibilities

• Perform reviews of assigned Exchange of Information (EOI) cases, defining and obtaining requested information.

• Prepare EOI requests for information for the EOI manager's review and signature.

• Conduct required research, follow-ups, and reports to be sent to the IRS office or foreign government official office.

• Maintain inventory controls, historical case files, and administrative reports.

• Maintain liaison contacts with personnel of foreign government offices to obtain needed information.

• Review responses received from IRS offices and foreign governments on assigned EOI cases, and prepare appropriate letters and closing documents for the EOI manager's review and signature.

• Prepare drafts of summons for records needed from banks, other financial institutions, and corporations in the U.S.

• Provide advice, counsel, assistance, and guidance to taxpayers and employees regarding federal tax laws.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or National and provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.

• One year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service.

• Experience related to legal, tax accounting, or other project assignments requiring knowledge of Federal tax laws and regulations.

• Ability to conduct legal research and analysis, and prepare briefs or similar documents that interpret laws and regulations.

• Experience managing an inventory of work with various deadlines and competing priorities.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience as an accountant, tax preparer, financial manager, auditor, or investigator.

• Knowledge of international tax compliance and exchange of information protocols.
