The Tax Reporting Officer role sits within the WPB Chief Controls Team, working closely with the WPB Client Tax Reporting Manager in Digital Business Services.
The role has a primary focus on WPB customer tax reporting. It entails assisting management in the preparation and management of WPB Client Tax Reporting, and providing guidance, training, and support to the Distribution teams in all aspects of customer tax reporting risk, particularly FATCA (Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act) and CRS (Common Reporting Standard). The role will also supports Tax MI and customer outreach program for FATCA and CRS. The successful candidate will manage WPB’s end-to-end FATCA and CRS process with some involvement in Project and/or Remediation tasks as required.
What you’ll do:
Your main responsibilities will include:
assisting with the preparation and management of the annual WPB Client Tax Reporting requirements
assisting management with providing guidance and support to WPB teams on all aspects of FATCA and CRS Risk
identifying and escalating gaps in business knowledge and understanding of WPB tax reporting risk
assisting with the preparation of high quality and timely Tax MI reporting to regional and group teams
attending project working groups, collating intelligence discussed, and sharing that intelligence with management
assisting with the production of regular reporting to WPB risk forums
reviewing, identifying and escalating control, process & procedure gaps and ensuring that gaps are raised for assessment and remediation
contributing towards an effective customer first culture without compromising adherence to internal controls and compliance
assisting management in strengthening Tax compliance culture in WPB
developing new, and nurturing existing, relationships with key stakeholder to influence and foster risk-aware culture
assisting management with completing periodical attestations
Requirements
What you will need to succeed in the role:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
A good understanding of FATCA and CRS Compliance and the Tax regulatory landscape impacting the Australian Retail Banking Industry
to have highly developed oral and written communication skills to be able to build relationships with key internal stakeholders
proven history of successfully identifying business risk and assisting in remedial procedures
strong ability to adapt to change and manage multiple tasks and competing deadlines, without compromising attention to detail
proven problem solving skills with ability to consider alternative and lateral solutions
ability to understand complex concepts
exposure and/or understanding of Wealth Management, Digital, Branch, Contact Centre, Insurance, Customer Propositions, Mortgages and Cards operational controls & processes would be an advantage
