Eligibility: Must be enrolled in at least one course during the summer to qualify for the subsidy. (we can assist with registration)
Company Overview
Tartigrade is a Calgary-based hedge fund and private equity firm. We operate across Canada and internationally, leveraging sophisticated financial strategies, quantitative analysis, and in-house software development. In parallel, we support the Foundation of the Energy Collective (FEC), a registered charity focused on building sustainable, tech-enabled communities.
We are lean, driven, and deeply committed to excellence in both finance and systems innovation.

We are looking for an experienced tax professional to join us on a subsidy-backed summer engagement. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with real-world tax experience who may be:
Pursuing continuing education or re-entering the workforce
Looking for impactful, high-level work in a fast-moving environment
Interested in transitioning from external advisory to an embedded strategic role
This is not a junior position. You will work directly with the Founder and CIO on strategic legal/tax operations and help lay the groundwork for a proprietary internal tax software system. Successful completion of this role could lead to full-time employment once the term is over.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate and document TTG’s current tax process: Understand our GP/LP and International trading structure
Advise on transitioning some tax functions in-house: Identify what parts of tax preparation, filings, or compliance could be internalized in a cost-effective, low-risk manner
Lead the scoping of a proprietary tax software solution: Work with our software developers to define features, workflows, and reporting logic for a future internal system. This will be used as the foundation for a Capstone student development project.

Eligible to work in Canada
University degree in Accounting, Taxation or a related field
CPA designation, enrollment in the CPA program, or equivalent tax/legal training is a strong asset
3+ years of experience in Canadian corporate tax or compliance

Interested in working with a hedge fund at the intersection of finance, law, and technology
Entrepreneurial mindset — thrives in a high-autonomy, high-impact role
