Our staff are our superpower at Sommerville School. We provide an incredibly nurturing and dynamic learning environment for our 360+ neuro-diverse learners, aged 5–21 years, in the base school (Panmure) satellite units in 13 mainstream schools and a community programme for 18-21 year olds in Highland Park. Our 300 team of educators, therapists, specialists and teacher aides work together in a multi-disciplinary approach to meet the individual needs of every learner, with personalised learning programmes.
Due to the schools growth we have full-time, term time only positions next year, requiring the following attributes:
empathy and patience
good listening skills
willingness to learn new skills
calmness and encouraging
The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position is set by the Support Staff in Schools' Collective Agreement with considerations to previous experience within special education. The base pay rate for Teacher Aides currently ranges from $25.18 - $38.77 per hour, depending on your qualifications and experience. Your base pay rate will be established by a salary assessment once you have been appointed.
This position commences in Term 2 2026, or as negotiated. We may appoint someone prior to the deadline so get your CV in now!
