About the Role
The selected candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing high-quality training programs for teachers in English, utilizing progressive pedagogical and adult learning methodologies.
Main Responsibilities
• Training: Conduct workshops and courses for teachers in English, focusing on progressive pedagogical and adult learning methodologies.
• Capacity Building Program Planning: Prepare program plans in English and contribute to the development of the academic calendar for training programs.
• Coordination and Planning: Work with other subject teams to plan and execute English programs.
• Feedback Analysis: Analyze feedback from teachers and training participants, incorporating it into subsequent trainings.
• Program Direction: Provide direction for the English program, aligning it with current educational policies and guidelines (e.g., NEP 2020, NCFTE 200+).
• Evaluation and Feedback: Utilize assessment tools to evaluate trainee teachers' knowledge, skills, and ability to apply theoretical concepts in practical settings. Provide regular feedback to trainee teachers on their teaching performance and progress towards competency standards.
Content Development
The selected candidate will develop detailed program frameworks, teaching plans, and workshop modules for effective implementation, based on a background study of relevant national and international reference material.
• Program Materials: Develop materials for short-term and intensive courses.
• Resource Centre Strengthening: Develop subject-specific resource material, including teacher manuals, interactive models, TLM, reference material, assessment tools, etc. Regularly update developed resources based on conducted action research or primary/secondary research or other academic reading and writing.
Research and Development
The selected candidate will develop research-based specialized content and instructions to achieve workshop goals and objectives.
• Training Need Assessment: Conduct training need assessments, baseline, and end-line assessments to check the effectiveness of the program.
• Conceptualization and Design: Conceptualize, design, and conduct research on a regular basis. Explore the latest methodologies, resources, and approaches in education and the expertise area to enhance the quality and effectiveness of program modules and other resources.
• Academic Writings: Conceptualize and produce academic writings in the subject domain.
School Visits and Direct Intervention
The selected candidate will regularly observe classroom sessions at various schools to understand the impact of the programs.
• School Support: Plan and provide on-site support to selected teachers in schools in the respective subject.
• Teacher Engagement: Intensively engage with a cohort of teachers to understand factors required for effective change in teaching practices.
Documentation and Reporting
The selected candidate will document and report progress on allocated tasks.
• Training Reports: Prepare and submit training reports, classroom observation reports, events, and other reports.
Other Activities
The selected candidate will collaborate with teachers, team members, and other TMF members to perform assigned tasks effectively.
• Annual Report and Newsletter: Contribute to the development and publication of the Annual Report, Newsletter, and other publications.
• Event Planning: Plan, coordinate, and participate in events organized by the Shikshaantar team.
• Staff Development: Participate in staff development activities and workshops that are academically relevant for the subject team.
Experience: 2-3 years in capacity-building programs in Teacher Education.
Qualification: Master's degree in English Language Teaching (ELT), Applied Linguistics, B.Ed., or an equivalent degree in a related field.
