About the role

The Beanland Memorial Library (est, 1884) is housed in the award-winning purpose-built facility opened in 2015. This well-resourced library spans five levels, offering an extensive collection, individual study spaces, and a variety of teaching spaces. It also provides school-wide access to numerous academic databases, magazines, journals, and services such as extended opening hours throughout the calendar year.

As one of two Teacher Librarians, you will report to the Director of Library and Information Services and bring your expertise to a diverse team of library professionals that includes a Senior Librarian, Library Technician, Library Assistant and Librarian Archivist.

The Library team works collaboratively to ensure their strategic intent: to create a library that is an inviting, dynamic, and inclusive centre of connection for our valued Grammar community.

This is a full-time and ongoing position. Consideration will be given to those seeking a part-time role.

While the role will not include formal timetabled classes, the Teacher Librarian will:

Support Teachers of Years 7 – + in the preparation and delivery of research lessons

Assist the English faculty with the Years 7 – + reading program.

The Teacher Librarian will also have:

relevant tertiary qualification in Library and Information Services – Teacher Librarian, or equivalent

knowledge and experience of the Oliver library management system, ClickView, Libguides/Learnpath, and online databases

an understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. copyright law) relating to this position

extensive knowledge of teaching strategies to achieve optimal learning outcomes for students

excellent technological literacy

ability to work collaboratively and energetically within a high-performing school culture

current Queensland College of Teachers registration (or eligibility to apply).
