About the Role
Reporting to the Education Manager – Engineering , the Teacher Under Supervision – Locksmithing role is designed for experienced industry professionals who are new to teaching.
You will plan, deliver and assess locksmithing training under the supervision of a qualified teacher , while working toward completing a recognised training and assessment qualification. You’ll be supported through mentoring,guidance and quality assurance processes as you develop teaching capability in a collaborative learning environment.
This role suits an experienced locksmith who is passionate about sharing their skills and ready to transition into education.
What You'll Do
Plan, deliver and assess locksmithing training under supervision
Create inclusive, safe and engaging learning environments for diverse learners
Support student engagement, progress and wellbeing
Assist with pastoral care and refer students to support services where required
Develop and maintain training, assessment and compliance documentation
Participate in validation, moderation and continuous improvement activities
Maintain vocational currency and undertake professional development
What You'll Bring
Essential
Relevant vocational qualifications in Locksmithing
Demonstrated, current industry experience in the locksmithing trade
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to learner-centred, inclusive education
Willingness to work under supervision while developing teaching capability
Desirable
Experience mentoring, training or supporting apprentices or staff in the workplace
Familiarity with VET environments or compliance requirements
Qualifications & Mandatory Checks
Appointment to this position is subject to meeting the qualification requirements (where applicable) and the successful completion of all mandatory employment checks.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the qualification requirements under the Victorian TAFE Teaching Staff Agreement and relevant regulatory standards.
This includes:
Relevant vocational competency and industry experience in Locksmithing, and
Either:
Be enrolled in and actively working towards a recognised training and assessment qualification (such as TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or TAE50122 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training ), with the ability to complete the qualification within two years, or
Hold an approved VET skill set or secondary teaching qualification that permits delivery under supervision , in line with the Agreement.
Applicants who hold secondary teaching qualifications with relevant VET skill sets are also encouraged to apply.

A valid Victorian Working with Children Check (Employee)
A National Police Check
