About the role
The Teaching Laboratories Technician is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to join the teaching laboratories team in the Faculty Education Office (Medicine).
The Teaching Laboratories Technician will have strong communication skills and organisational skills. They should have good knowledge of Health & Safety and the technical experience for the set up, testing and troubleshooting of equipment. The postholder will be working alongside other technical staff and teaching staff to support the successful delivery of teaching.
What you would be doing
You will be responsible for assisting the Teaching Laboratories Manager and existing technicians in the planning and delivery of all operational aspects of supporting the teaching laboratories on the Hammersmith campus. Working closely with the Teaching Laboratories Manager, Teaching Laboratories Technicians, Course Leaders and the Teaching Facilities Manager, you will help provide technical support for both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and ensure the laboratories are appropriately stocked and prepared.
The post holder will mainly be based at the Hammersmith Campus but may be asked to contribute to support at the South Kensington or Charing Cross Campuses, working closely with the lab technicians based there, preparing laboratories for Team Based Learning (TBL) or Clinical Skills sessions if required.
What we are looking for
You have a background education in relevant science subject.
You have experience in health and safety.
You have working experience in a teaching or research laboratory environment.
You have extensive technical skills in a laboratory environment.
You are adept at troubleshooting and dealing with requests from stakeholders, while demonstrating patience, flexibility, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
You are experienced at working independently and as part of a larger team in a large and complex organisation, working collaboratively with colleagues.

The post is available immediately on a fulltime, open-ended contract based at Hammersmith Campus (with some cross travel to other FEO sites across West London, as and when required).
This is a varied role based within the Faculty of Medicine Education Office, working with a small friendly team that will offer support and guidance.
