Duck Bay School is located in the community of Duck Bay nestled on the western shore of Lake Winnipegosis, a one-hour drive north of Dauphin. The school and community are proud of their Metis culture and heritage. The school has a student body of approximately +0 Nursery to Grade + students (plus Adult Education).
The successful candidate will be responsible for the administrative duties in the school and will teach junior high school courses based on qualifications, experience, and programming needs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Education degree and Valid Manitoba Teacher's Certificate (or eligibility for)
Master's degree in education/administration and/or Certificate in School Leadership would be an asset
At least five years of teaching experience and five years of administrative experience
Excellent understanding of current Manitoba Curricula and differentiated instruction
Experience with integrating Indigenous culture and land-based teaching into curriculum
Proficiency in a variety of computer applications in a network environment and experience with and understanding of school-based technology
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to effectively communicate with parents and the community, and foster parental involvement
Ability to work with teachers to promote and deliver inclusive schooling
Previous success with the development and implementation of short and long-term school-based plans
Experience leading innovative and alternative program delivery methods for students
Keen ability to identify and creatively solve problems
Capacity to work in and respond to a demanding, fast-paced school environment
