Team Lead

The Lead Game Programmer oversees the overall programming aspects in a game development project. He/She manages the technical development of games. He/She works with members of other key team to develop technical specifications and oversees the development of game engines. He/She integrates all the technical documentation for codes produced and ensures quality of all the game code.

He/She manages the code development process and ensures that team members deliver the requested codes on time and within budgets. He/She is involved in project team meetings and reviews project progress. He/She also liaises with key stakeholders to achieve project objectives. He/She can be expected to work long hours to deliver on project milestones. He/She is a technical expert and an effective project manager. He/She possesses good communication skills and has an eye for detail.

Tasks

· Assign the development of programming elements to teams. Define the technical objectives and product roadmap for the game engine.

· Develop best practices for game development to ensure codes are bug free and comply with security specifications.

· Develop budgets, production plans and milestones for specific elements in the game. Develop coding standards for game development.

· Develop detailed technical documentation of the game. Drive enhancements to engine modules to ensure optimal performance of game across target hardware platforms.

· Drive innovation by introducing new technologies and programming practices for games. Evaluate game features provided by game designers to ensure that they are technically feasible. Guide game programmers to create immersive gameplay experiences in a timely manner and of a consistent high quality standard. Ideate new features and modules for existing engines or development of new games.

· Ideate with the Technical team on high level engine design and specifications.

· Oversee prototyping of core engine modules.

· Oversee testing of engine to ensure reliability of build systems for game releases.

· Oversee the development of the different builds of the game.

· Provide technical advice to the development of overall game design.

· Review engine architecture and revise accordingly based on technical objectives and resources. Review game and engine programming code against guidelines provided by engine teams to ensure stability and security of games.

· Review the overall technical specification of game development.

· Work with existing engine code base to develop game play including player-world interaction, artificial intelligence (AI), strategies, rules and gameplay.

· Main Responsibilities of a Game Developer Your responsibilities will include:

· Developing responsive 3D applications for PC or mobile, utilizing game engines such as Unreal Engine 4 or Unity Collaborating with designers and artists on design and delivery of interactive applications.
