About the Role
As a Team Lead Population Health as part of our Northern region, this permanent, full-time role provides team management, delivery, performance, and development. It involves operational leadership, resource utilisation, and coordinating programme planning, delivery, evaluation, stakeholder engagement, and reporting across various programme areas including smoking cessation and holistic wellbeing.
The people and performance responsibilities of the role work in collaboration with the technical and professional responsibilities of other regional and local roles such as Senior Advisors, Development and Delivery Leads. The Team Leader role will also deliver operational work and have responsibility for work programme(s) relevant to their professional skill set.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.
About you
You'll be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of public health principles, practices and emergency management protocols. As a leader you're able to maximise the quality and contributions of individuals and teams to achieve our vision, purpose and goals. You will have:
Tertiary qualification in Public Health or a related field or equivalent experience
Proven experience in team leadership and management, preferably in a public health context
At least 3-5 years' experience in a public health service delivery role
Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action
A current clean New Zealand driver's license
Willingness to travel across the region
Ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain positive working relationships with people at all levels within the public and private sectors, related industry and community interest groups
Proficient computer literacy including Microsoft packages
