Temporary, Full-time | $90,403.92 - $104,746.51 per annum

Georges River Council has a great opportunity for a Team Leader Children and Youth Services to join and lead our team for a 12-month contract (maternity cover).

About the Role

As the Team Leader Children and Youth Services, you will be responsible for the development, delivery, and evaluation of a diverse range of programs, events, and services that promote literacy, creativity, and lifelong learning for children and young people. You will lead the creation and implementation of engaging communication, promotional, and marketing materials to support and enhance participation in these initiatives.

The role also involves supporting targeted community outreach efforts, including coordinating library visits by schools and community organisations to strengthen connections and engagement with young audiences. You will contribute to the development and management of library collections for children and youth, ensuring they reflect traditional, digital, and emerging formats. Additionally, you will support the integration of technology and best practices to continually improve service delivery and ensure the library remains a dynamic and inclusive space for young people.

This role is based at Clive James Library in Kogarah but may require travel to other Georges River Libraries branches as necessary.

What we Offer

Temporary, Full time - 70 hours per fortnight (15th September 2025 - 14th September 2026, maternity leave cover)

Full time salary from $90,403.92 - $104,746.51 per annum plus 12% superannuation (dependant on the skills, qualifications and relevant experience of the suitable candidate)

9-day fortnight subject to operational requirements

Secondment Opportunity

Georges River Council welcomes applicants through Council-to-Council secondment arrangements. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to broaden their leadership experience, develop new skills, and contribute to a different local government environment, while retaining the security of your substantive position.

To be eligible for secondment, the following conditions must be met:

You have obtained approval and support from your current Council for the secondment.

You are approved to take unpaid leave for the duration of the temporary contract.

You will be employed by Georges River Council on a maximum term contract and agree to the terms and conditions of that employment.

At the conclusion of the contract, you will return to your substantive role with your current Council.

Any accrued sick leave or long service leave at the conclusion of the contract may be transferred back to your Council in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award 2023.

The successful candidate will have

Tertiary qualifications in Library and Information Science or equivalent

Current Working with Children Check

Demonstrated experience in providing a quality customer focused service

Demonstrated experience in developing library collections and digital resources relevant to the needs of children and young people

Demonstrated experience in developing, delivering and evaluating library programs and events that effectively encourage literacy, creativity and lifelong learning in children and young people

Demonstrated experience using technology for the delivery of library services to children and young people

Demonstrated analytical, time management, organisational, financial, project management and creative problem-solving skills

Demonstrated experience in supervising a team, including an ability to provide performance feedback, guide others through change and implement innovative approaches

Highly developed oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including effective negotiation, consultation and consensus building

Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite as well as content management systems and technology in a public library or equivalent setting
