About the role | Ko te mahi nei
The Fitness Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality fitness services, ensuring they are tailored to meet customer needs. This also includes:
Supporting the Fitness Manager to ensure the delivery of high-quality fitness services and programmes in a safe and appropriate environment that encourages ongoing participation.
Leading the delivery of an engaging customer experience by ensuring service standards and operating procedures are in place and followed, fostering confidence and a can-do attitude.
Fostering a strong sense of community and connection within the fitness environment, creating a supportive space where both kaimahi and customers feel a sense of belonging, familiarity, and motivation to stay engaged.
Developing the capability of fitness staff through ongoing upskilling, mentoring, and training.
Utilise digital and technological fitness experiences that provide additional opportunities to increase participation, encourage social connectedness and adherence to exercise.
About you | Ko Koe Tēnei
To be successful in this role you will have:
A fitness qualification (Level 5 Certificate or equivalent)
Minimum of 5 years practical experience in the fitness industry including 2 years' leadership experience in the fitness, sporting or recreation industry.
You will need to collaborate effectively within the team and foster a culture of unity across the facility. This will be crucial in ensuring the facility operates efficiently.
Experience in budget monitoring with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Strong relationship management skills, with excellent attention to detail, organisation, and time management.

Parakiore was a Ngāi Tūāhuriri hero renowned for his resilience, determination and agility.
Additional Information | Ko ētahi atu kōrero:
Hours of work: Monday to Friday, with some weekend work required as needed
Position: Full-time, fixed-term from May 2026 to May 2027.
Location: This position is based at Parakiore Recreation and Sports Centre, 50 St Asaph Street
Salary: The salary band for this position goes from $81,227 to $90,252 per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
