Are you passionate about people, communication, and community? Deaf Connect is seeking a Team Leader, Interpreting Workforce to lead and support our dedicated Auslan interpreting team. This is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact by shaping a positive interpreter experience—from onboarding and day-to-day support to professional development and well managed exits.
We’re offering a full-time, flexible opportunity based in any of our offices — Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide or Perth. Our hybrid model supports balance, with core in-office days (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and flexibility to work from home on Mondays and Fridays.
About the role:
As Team Leader, you’ll work closely with senior leaders to review operations, identify opportunities, and support continuous improvement across the interpreting workforce. You'll also build strong relationships with stakeholders to strengthen service quality, drive growth, and ensure interpreters are supported, engaged, and aligned with Deaf Connect’s values.
Main responsibilities of the role include:
Leading and supervising a national interpreter workforce—ensuring smooth onboarding, performance support, and engagement
Collaborating with key leaders to enhance workforce operations and identify growth opportunities
Championing interpreter wellbeing, compliance, and scalable systems to meet community needs
Building strong relationships with stakeholders, the Deaf community, and interpreting professionals
About you:

Understanding of interpreter workforce needs, including onboarding, compliance, and wellbeing
Knowledge of the Deaf community, Auslan, and Deaf culture
Strong administration skills, including payroll, compliance, and record-keeping
Confidence in managing feedback, performance conversations, and complaints
Excellent communication, relationship-building, and time management skills
Positive, flexible, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
