Reporting to the Northern Zone Operations Manager, the Team Manager will plan, direct and coordinate all functions within the departments of Inbound and Inventory to ensure and improve the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of both areas. Taking responsibility for accurate timely inbound and movement of stock within the warehouse and DC to DC transfers.

The Team Manager will also ensure workplace health and safety requirements are met and take responsibility for the security of the building and stock and plan the arrangement of goods within the warehouse and organize special requirements for certain stock, such as perishable, DGS and sub warehouse.

Coordination & Supervision

Coordinate, manage and monitor the workings of all inbound and inventory team members

Planning, coordinating and monitoring the receipt, of Supplier PO’s and Internal Company DC to DC Transfer; TO’s.

Ensure stock take processes are followed with Root Cause investigation, and solutions provided

Lead in Sydney

Support to Brisbane

Maintains receiving, warehousing and distribution by initiating, coordinating and enforcing operational and personnel policies and procedures are implemented and kept updated with process improvements.

Tools & Equipment

Manage maintenance of equipment and machinery including company owned vehicles

Recommend equipment investment to both support operational efficiency & reduce safety risks

Provide technical support where necessary

Coordinating the use of automated and computerized systems where necessary

Using space and mechanical handling equipment efficiently and make sure quality, budgetary targets and environmental objectives are met

Human Resources

Planning the use of human resources. Organize recruitment, placement and induction of required staff

Establish department structures

Delegate tasks and accountabilities.

Establish work schedules

Coach, mentor and supervise team

Monitor and evaluate performance

Daily huddles with department team members

Improve and maintain department KPI’s by coaching, counselling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring and appraising job results

Motivating, organising and encouraging teamwork within the workforce to ensure productivity targets are met or exceeded

Strategic Input

Liaising with senior management. Assist in the development of strategic plans for operational activity. Implement and manage operational plans

Liaise with Sales & BST on new business opportunities & customer reviews to improve both customer experience and net GP

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies

Plan future capacity requirements

Safety & Compliance

Comply with deferral, state and local warehousing, material handling and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation

Enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions

Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols

Maintaining standards of health and safety, hygiene and security in the work environment, for example, ensuring that stock such as chemicals and food are stored safely

More about you

To be successful in this role, you must have the ability to manage and motivate a team of storepeople in a busy warehouse environment that deals with fast moving products at high volume. You will ideally display the following attributes:

Degree in Business Administration, commerce, management, industrial technology, industrial engineering, logistics or supply chain management

Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role

Stock Control and Inventory Management experience a must

Knowledge and demonstrated experience in organizational effectiveness and operations management

Knowledge and demonstrated experience of:

Business and management principle and practices

Financial and accounting principles and practices

Human resource principles and practices

Project management principles and practices

Information technology skills including but not limited to warehouse management systems

Expertise in warehouse management procedures and best practices

Hands-on leadership experience

Exceptional organisational skills and time management skills

High level of attention to detail and accuracy

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels

Reliable, punctual and able to work under pressure

Current forklift licence is essential
